Kurs je namenjen studentima master i doktorskih akademskih studija.
Cilj kursa jeste da ustanovi vezu između nekih ključnih biografskih momenata u kompozitorovom životu i pravca njegove kompozicione strategije u to vreme. Društvene turbulencije ponekad suštinski menjaju kontekst kompozitorovog života: Olivije Mesijan je, na primer, bio u koncentracionom logoru u vreme Drugog svetskog rata. Međutim, to je vreme kada je napisao svoj uticajni Kvartet za kraj vremena. Igor Stravinski je osetio da ne može da živi u burnoj atmosferi Rusije u osvit komunizma. Ali, čin napuštanja domovine intenzivirao je njegove napore da implementira elemente ruskog folklora u svoja muzička ostvarenja. Kurs će obuhvatiti muzičke biografije i stvaralaštvo evropskih kompozitora 20. i 21. veka, pripadnika više nacija – iz Rusije, Mađarske, Francuske, Grčke, Srbije, Slovenije: Igora Stravinskog, Edgaar Vareza, Olivijea Mesijana, Janisa Ksenakisa, Đerđa Ligetija, Aleksandra Obradovića, Vinka Globokara, Rajka Maksimovića.

Do kraja ovog kursa studenti će biti osposobljeni da:
- razumeju ključnu dimenziju rastuće snage evropskih integracia u kulturnom i umetničkom pogledu;
- identifikuju i opišu glavne probleme vezane za muzičke biografije u evropskom kontekstu;
- skiciraju glavna pitanja kao što su “evropeizacija” i transformativna moć muzike i da diskutuju o njima.
